Overnight Naval Operations in the Arabian Sea Following Pakistan's Attempt to Attack India

According to sources, the Indian Navy carried out targeted operations in the Arabian Sea against Pakistan early Friday in response to a significant escalation by Pakistan that included attempted missile strikes in Jammu and Kashmir and drone strikes in other regions of India, including Jaisalmer in Rajasthan.

After hearing loud explosions in Jammu on Thursday, it was discovered that Pakistan had fired missiles not only at the city but also at RS Pura, Arnia, Samba, and Hiranagar, among other locations in Jammu and Kashmir. India's air defence systems successfully intercepted every missile.

Drones were caught in Jaisalmer, and shelling was reported in Pathankot, among other locations.

In a number of places, including Chandigarh, Mohali, and Srinagar, blackouts were also implemented.

Along the International Border in J&K, Pakistani-origin drones and missiles struck military installations at Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur today. In accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), the threats were quickly eliminated using both kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities. In a post on X, the military ministry stated that there were no known injuries or material losses.

"India remains fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people," it stated.

Quick-Step Advancements

India started Operation Sindoor on Wednesday in response to the terror assault in Pahalgam last month. The operation targeted nine targets in Pakistan, including the headquarters of terrorist groups Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed in Muridke and Bahawalpur in Punjab.

In response, Pakistan attempted in vain to attack installations in 15 different Indian areas. India's military responded by attacking Pakistan's air defence installations on Thursday morning, successfully destroying at least one of them in Lahore.

India's air defence system then neutralised Pakistan's drones and missiles that were launched on Thursday night.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri had earlier in the day reaffirmed that Pakistan had attempted to attack Indian military installations in retaliation for India's precise, measured, and calibrated response.

He also chastised Pakistan for its allegations of Indian escalation, pointing out that Islamabad was the one who started the escalation with the Pahalgam terror assault, which claimed 26 lives.

"On April 22, Pakistan initiated the initial escalation. With the action that was done yesterday morning, we are the ones reacting to that escalation. Additionally, I want to reiterate that the attack was limited to terrorist camps and targeted non-military, non-civilian objectives. And once more, as we have stated since yesterday, any more action taken by Pakistan—some of which we are witnessing today—is merely an escalation by Pakistan, and it will be and is being correctly addressed," he said.
